One of the great things about the internet is the ability to connect with your potential customers in ways that were impossible a decade ago. Social media sites have made creating a personal connection with your customers and prospects a lot easier.

There are many social media platforms that can benefit your agency’s marketing plans. However, it’s ultimately up to you to choose which ones will bring you the best return on investment.

Two of the most commonly used social platforms by insurance agents are YouTube and LinkedIn. Let’s take a look at these two platforms and how you can use them to market your products and services.

Using YouTube Videos in Your Insurance Marketing Strategy

YouTube is a powerful platform that can help you make a strong connection with your customer base and potential prospects. YouTube is also easy to get started with.

To get started with YouTube you simply create a YouTube channel, film your video, and then upload the video from your computer. You can also imbed your YouTube videos within your agency website.

Videos on your agency website can help you make a more personal connection with your customer base and potential prospects. However, a bad video can do the opposite and turn customers away from you.

Here are a few key factors to remember when filming YouTube videos:

  • Act natural
  • Smile
  • Don’t sound scripted
  • Dress the part

If a prospect watches your YouTube video and it is dry and scripted you’ll lose their attention and with the click of the mouse they’ll be on the search for another agency. If you can’t come off natural in your videos is best not to even post them.

However, if your videos are informative and engaging then a prospect is most likely to click around on your website or make that call to find out more about what you have to offer.

Using LinkedIn in Your Marketing Strategy

Another great marketing strategy, especially for professionals, is the use of LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a social media platform that many people use to make professional connections.

LinkedIn can also be a great way for you to stay in touch with your current customers.
Creating a LinkedIn account is simple and can be done with minimal time and effort. Here are the steps you should take:

  • Create a LinkedIn Company Page
  • Fill in the page with all of your company’s details – be specific, but interesting
  • Invite your current clients, colleagues, and local businesses to follow you
  • Update your page with relevant and interesting information

People will follow businesses on LinkedIn for one reason: they want relevant and useful information. The best way to actively engage your LinkedIn followers is to provide them the information that they’re after.

Once you build up your followers you can start promoting more targeted material to convert your followers into customers, or repeat customers.

LinkedIn also offers a variety of advertising options that may benefit your business.

Be Consistent

YouTube and LinkedIn are great tools for marketing your business, however they aren’t going to bring you results overnight. They key to any effective marketing strategy is consistency. If you’ve yet to try your hand at marketing with YouTube and LinkedIn you may be missing out.

Take the time to learn more about these platforms and how you can best utilize them in your marketing strategy.
